A family friend, Joe Johnson, started a volunteer organization called OneforJoe. Each year, he does a series of fundraisers to benefit people in need.
In December, 2012, Joe held his first toy drive for kids with cancer. It was held just before Christmas in the Andover Cinema in Andover, MN. The toy drive brought in an unbelievable amount of Christmas gifts for these children.
I personally purchased and collected several huge bags of new toys for the kids!
Joe arranged to have Santa Claus attend as well as a couple of Santa's favorite reindeer, and he even brought his sleigh!
Joe realized how much small children enjoy being around Queens, so he asked me and a sister NAM princess to help out at the event. I was so happy to do that and really enjoyed being with the kids!
Joe held his second toy drive for this group in December, 2013. I wasn't able to volunteer at that one because I left that day for Norway to spend the holidays with my family over there. But I was able to recruit some of my sister NAM Queens volunteer at the event, and I also helped promote it.
I also got to pass out hand-made wooden Christmas tree ornaments that the blind people from Blind Inc made for the kids. It was unbelievable that they were able to make these beautiful ornaments by using power tools, without being able to see what they were doing!
