Each year, I organize a huge Halloween costume party/food drive to benefit my local food shelf, as well as a "We Scare Hunger" initiative, encouraging trick-or-treaters to ask for non-perishable food items for the food shelf instead of candy.
When I attended public school, I also organized several school-wide food drives to benefit our local food shelf.
For my 2015 talent show/fundraiser, I had the cost of admission include two non-perishable food items. That one event collected more than 800 pounds of food!
I was honored to be named as one of four top volunteers at Valley Outreach for my 2015 work with them.
At my 2018 talent show/fundraiser, I also had the cost of admission include non-perishable food items. That time, I raised $170 and collected 111 pounds of food!
